You will need to exfoliate AT LEAST 24 hours before your tan with an exfoliating mitt or oil-free scrub. It is extremely important to remove all dead skin and any soap or lotion residue. We need a fresh slate for your spray tan! It also helps to drink water to hydrate your skin. This will help your tan last longer!
This is different for everyone. You can wear your birthday suit, old underwear/bras, or an old swimsuit. I also have disposable bras, panties, and pasties. Whatever you are comfortable with! If you have a special event, make sure your event outfit will cover your tan lines if you decide to wear anything during your appointment.
All spray tans take 24 hours to fully develop. The difference is a standard spray tan will need left on for 8-12 hours and a rapid 2-6 hours, depending on the solution used and depth of tan desired. The benefit of the rapid tan is you have more freedom to go about your day and not worry about messing up your tan.
Spray tans can last anywhere from 5-12 days. This truly depends on how you care for your tan. Staying hydrated, moisturizing twice a day, and using a spray tan friendly body wash is key. I also have tan extenders for purchase that can extend the life of your tan.
DHA is the only active ingredient used in sunless tanning that is approved by the FDA. DHA is a naturally derived colorless sugar compound that when applied to the skin causes a chemical reaction with amino acids in the surface of the skin producing a darkening effect.
Shaving is highly recommended 12-24 hours PRIOR to your appointment. Shaving too close to your appointment will mean your pores are still open, causing the solution to sink into your pores and create a dotted look. Also, certain products can leave a residue and you will need time for that to wear off before your appointment or it will cause a barrier. Shaving after your tan is fully developed is perfectly fine, just make sure to use a new razor because a dull razor will strip your tan.
